4-H CLUB RAISES FUNDS USING THEIR GOATS

The Templeton 4-H Club used their two donated Pygora goats to make products to sell to raise funds to give to local charities. The 4-Hers used the goat fleece to make cat toys and milled soap from their goat's milk.
Morning Star Youth Ranch
was given a $50 check plus a supply of their natural soap product. The 4-H members enjoyed a tour of the ranch and met the rescued horses that their funds will go to support.

MENTOR HORSEMANSHIP CLINIC

Many volunteers are in training to be mentors who will work one on one with children when they visit the ranch.
Morning Star hosted a clinic featuring Jess Sander, who demonstrated her technique for working with horses in a calm, assertive manner.
Ranch horses, Selah and Anya, were used to show the difference in personalities and relationship.
The mentors go through a rigorous program of hands on training with the ranch horses, CPR, first aid, written tests, watch videos, as well as reading books from a required reading list.

ANYA BRINGS HER GRACE TO THE RANCH

Jess Sander donated a lovely mare to Morning Star Youth Ranch named Anya.  Anya is the Russian word for "grace." She is enjoying her new home and has demonstrated a kind, sensitive spirit. Jess worked with Anya at the mentor clinic.

ALL OF OUR HORSES HAVE COME HOME!

Several Morning Star horses had been waiting to come live at the ranch until proper fencing and shelters were funded and built.  Carole, one of our directors, had been generously providing pasture as a temporary foster home, as well as giving us a place to train mentors in the round pen.

The round pen and horses, MS Fire and Selah, are now secure in their permanent home at Morning Star Youth Ranch. The horses already living at the ranch quickly adjusted to their new pasture mates.  All of our equine counselors are happily working with both mentors in training and visiting children.

Thank you to the many people who faithfully donated both monetarily and sweat equity to build fence and bring our horses home!
